Ava fudged a little on her résumé to land her dream job. She’s been working her curvy booty overtime to get her boss’s new lingerie line off the ground. But when her boss’s brother comes in and says Ava should be the face—and body—of the campaign, she’s having second thoughts. Lucas knows what he wants, and the second he sees every lush inch of Ava all bets are off. She’s not only the one for the job but the one for him, and he’ll do whatever it takes to make her see it. Warning: This obsessed hero doesn’t hold back, and we were more than happy to let him take the reins. Find out what happens when the thick girl gets the alpha and things really heat up!

Ask me a few years ago and I would tell you that I would never read a romance book. Fast forward to this year and I can’t get enough. Thanks to a fellow booktuber Steph @ StephsRomanceBookTalk (click on the link to check out her channel), I discovered the Read Me Romance podcast where Tessa Bailey and Alexa Riley (romance authors) work with various authors to write short novella like romance stories and have them read as audiobooks. Each week they go through a new story by a different author. Week 1 features Closer by Alexa Riley where a plus size/curvy main figure has a romantic relationship with her friends brother. What I loved most about this story was the rep. In this year where I’ve been exploring the romance genre, I haven’t come across many plus size or full figured characters, and being plus sized myself it’s always nice to see this representation in books. Due to the shortness of the book, there isn’t much for me to delve into regarding the plot; however, I can say that I enjoyed the characters and whatever development Alexa Riley was able to accomplish in a short period of time. I wanted them to explore Ava’s source of self doubt a little more and I wish that the romance was a little more of a slow burn. It was hard to picture the two main characters doing a photo shoot and then having them have sexual relations in the middle of a restaurant. Maybe if it happened behind closed doors it would have been a little more believable but it was too much too quickly for me. The narrators were great and I look forward to hearing whatever else the narrate as well as other full length novels that Alexa Riley has written.
