Bookishrealm Reviews & Films
Happy Saturday Everyone! I'm sure you guys know and see that I occasionally do film reviews on my blog; however, I noticed that during the week I actually watch more films than I am capable of reviewing at one time so I decided to start this initiative where I discuss the movies that I've watched throughout the week! This doesn't mean that I'll stop reviewing movies; however, it will give everyone better insight to what I've been watching. I hope you enjoy.
Movies
So with this past week including Halloween, I decided to kick up my horror movie watching a little bit. I'm usually not too scared when it comes to horror movies, but for some reason these two definitely kicked things up a notch. Paranormal Activity 2 takes place before the events of the first movie. It was my first time seeing it and I'm not sure I want to see it again. There were a lot of moments where I jumped and covered my eyes with my pillows. Annabelle Creation was one that I was definitely interested in seeing because I've seen all of the movies that fall within the realm of the "Conjuring." Usually they scare me, but I get over it quickly. This was not the case with this movie. I don't know if it was because it didn't take long for the movie to start unleashing the paranormal aspects of the characters or if it just was a creepy movie in general because when I tell you this movie had me terrified I definitely mean it. I immediately had to turn on every light in my apartment just to feel calm about my surroundings. If you haven't seen the Conjuring 2 or Annabelle yet I would definitely recommend watching it before this movie because there certain characters that appear in this film that have appeared in others and the overall plot of the movie won't make sense unless you've seen those two.
Table 19 was a re-watch for me. I thought it was hilarious the first I watched it as well as the second time. If you haven't seen it, it tells the story of the characters on the cover who were invited to a wedding and were all placed at table 19. It eventually comes to light that this table was supposedly created for individuals that the couple did not really want to invite, but felt obligated to invite because of their connections. It definitely is a movie about misjudgments and miscommunication. I never understood why the movie didn't get more buzz or attention. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks was not what I expected it be. It was an ok film. Honestly, when I read the book this year I absolutely loved it; however, by the time I got to the movie I couldn't get into the characters or the way they were portrayed. Of course with any book to move adaptation you get more out of the book than the movie; however, this one wasn't a great translation to film.
TV Shows
I'm currently making my way through all of the seasons of 7th Heaven. I'm currently watching season 4. I watched some of it when I was younger and watching as an adult gives me a sense of nostalgia. I've really been enjoyed watching the Camden kids grow up and experience life. I always have felt like some aspects of this show are a bit unrealistic, but for the most part it is a fun, family-friendly TV show.
That's it for this week's watches! Have you guys watched any good movies or TV shows lately? Let me know in the comment box below.
