The last place ex-Special forces soldier, Kyle Musgrave, expected to find himself was in a joust at a renaissance fair. There’s a prize for winning, however—her name is Cameron and she’s just as horrified by her medieval circumstances as Kyle. She needs his help badly to escape her would-be suitors. For Kyle, that means donning uncomfortable armor, galloping to victory on a stubborn steed and claiming a reward he never expected. If she’ll have him.

Renaissance Man was the second book that I listened to on the podcast Read Me Romance. When the ladies described that it took place at a Renaissance fair I wasn't sure how the story was going to turn out. I thought it was going to be cheesy with horrible characters but it was the complete opposite. While the romance was still a bit too much of an insta love situation, I really enjoyed the dynamic between the characters. Kyle is such a gentleman and he instantly lends a hand to Cameron without even having known her for long. Another aspect that I loved about this novella was the relationship between Cameron and her stepfather. In the beginning of the novella, the reader gets the impression that Cameron's stepfather is evil; however, there is definitely more to his motivations and a lot of it revolves around Cameron's relationship with her mother. Typically it's hard to get a lot from a novella; however, this story just "felt right" and left me wanting more related to these two characters. I wish that Bailey would have written a longer novel about them. This definitely encourages me to check out more of her completed novels.
